Our Actions are Weighty in the Lord

1/5/25, 7:31 PM

Our actions affect God:

  • “All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against.” (1 Timothy 6:1)

  • “That I not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or that I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God.” (Proverbs 30:9)

  • “You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God? For "THE NAME OF GOD IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU," just as it is written.” (Romans 2:23-24)

What we do, we do unto God:

  • “"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'” (Matthew 25:40)

  • “He who oppresses the poor taunts his Maker, But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.” (Proverbs 14:31)

  • “He who mocks the poor taunts his Maker; He who rejoices at calamity will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 17:5)

  • “One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, And He will repay him for his good deed.” (Proverbs 19:17)

  • “And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.” (1 Corinthians 8:12)

And so we do unto ourselves:

  • “"Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” (Luke 6:31)

  • “"Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. "Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."” (Luke 6:37-38)

  • “"For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS.” (Matthew 16:27)

Men’s actions profaning God’s Temple in the Old Covenant:

  • “only he shall not go in to the veil or come near the altar because he has a defect, so that he will not profane My sanctuaries. For I am the LORD who sanctifies them.'"” (Leviticus 21:23)

  • “'You shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the LORD.” (Leviticus 19:12)

  • “'I will also set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given some of his offspring to Molech, so as to defile My sanctuary and to profane My holy name.” (Leviticus 20:3)

  • “"These who pant after the very dust of the earth on the head of the helpless Also turn aside the way of the humble; And a man and his father resort to the same girl In order to profane My holy name.” (Amos 2:7)

  • “"For the sons of Judah have done that which is evil in My sight," declares the LORD, "they have set their detestable things in the house which is called by My name, to defile it.” (Jeremiah 7:30)

  • “"But they put their detestable things in the house which is called by My name, to defile it.” (Jeremiah 32:34)

And in the New Covenant:

  • “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

  • “Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)
